IWC - Version 1.1 uploaded


Playtesting is pretty vital right? What looks like it will work on paper doesn't always work in practice.

I had my first solo playtest (me vs. me) game where two wrestlers duked it out and I simulated the moves and actions with random dice rolls.

Whilst I wanted to experience a back and forth bout with wrestlers getting beaten up as the match raced towards an exciting climax, the test actually ended up with the time-out limit being hit and the match being a bore draw not even getting close to a conclusion.

So, I have made a few tweaks to speed up the process towards the win condition to encourage the match to reach a conclusion within 25 moves which felt about the right sort of length of time. Therefore, I've amended the following:

  • When a move is called, the person with the highest result succeeds with the action (even if this is the defending person). This means momentum points are earned more quickly and the momentum score is reached.
  • The outcome of critical hits have been boosted to make these more beneficial
  • I've marked the 'kick out' and 'counter actions' as 'free actions' to make it clearer that you just spent a momentum point to negate an opponents move.

So in a true iterative style, version 1.1 has now been uploaded and it's time for another playtest.
