Feb 22 - A Night at the Tavern Released (Free RPG supplement)
A Night at the Tavern is a tavern generator and mini-game for fantasy adventure games. This supplement can be used with any role-playing game system.
The idea for this supplement came about as part of an adventure I ran whilst play-testing the Heroes of Adventure role-playing game several months ago. The players had visited a keep on the borders of civilisation and headed to the tavern to generally carouse and learn what they could about the place and its surroundings. A few NPC's were created on the fly and a couple of encounters took place but it felt a little reactive and uninspiring. The players had come with a purpose but there was little structure to how these encounters could develop during the course of the evening.
The supplement is designed to create a tavern with a simple theme which can be dropped into an adventure and then gives the referee a framework for managing players interactions with patrons, which can earning rewards or lead to consequences. A six turn timer controls the passage of play with the referee interpreting awards the players have earned at the end of the evening.
This supplement was released as part of the Mini TTRPG jam in Feb 2022 and can be downloaded for free.
(Designers Note: It was a challenge to fit this on 2 pages so instructions are brief and the game has yet to be really put through its paces so feedback welcome).
